Fans who visited MegaCon in Orlando, Florida, this weekend had the first chance to see the newest episode from "Star Trek Continues" ... and now the rest of the world can watch it online.
"Come Not Between the Dragons" was written by James Kerwin, Vic Mignogna and Greg Dykstra based on a story from Dykstra. In the episode, which was directed by Julian Higgins, a troubled creature pierces the hull of the USS Enterprise. That pits the crew against a pursuer who threatens to tear all of them apart.
This is Dykstra's first on-screen writing credit, although he has had a strong career as a sculptor for a number of animated features including "Finding Nemo" in 2003 and "A Nightmare Before Christmas" a decade before. He also worked on some other Pixar classics like "Monsters University," "Ratatouille" and "The Incredibles."
Kerwin is known for his work on a number of independent projects, including the 2011 miniseries "Yesterday Was a Lie" and the 2013 short film "R.U.R. Genesis" that also featured "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" regular Chase Masterson.
Higgins is an independent writer and director with an extensive resume, and hails from the same hometown — Tarpon Springs, Florida — as the fictional character Trip Tucker from "Star Trek: Enterprise."
"Continues" stars Mignogna, Todd Haberkorn, Chuck Huber and Christopher Doohan. The episode also features Gigi Edgley from "Farscape" fame.
Oh, and if you look closely, you might catch a cameo from Rod Roddenberry before the opening credits.
