Even some of our most favorite actors have to come from somewhere. Zachary Quinto, who plays Spock in the new Star Trek movies including July 22's "Star Trek: Beyond" isn't exempt from that.
The 39-year-old actor hails from Green Tree, Pennsylvania, a small suburb of Pittsburgh with just 4,400 people. He attended Catholic school, just across the way from Carnegie Mellon University, where he would eventually get his college degree.
But while Quinto might be a big name in Hollywood Sand New York now, he still gets back to Pittsburgh at least twice a year. And recently, he visited with television station KDKA to share some of his childhood, and how being an actor has allowed him to grow.
One of the more interesting stories is that he once ran into a pair of KDKA news anchors while at a Dairy Queen in Pittsburgh as a boy. He got his ice cream, but forgot to pay. So he ran back inside to fix that. The two anchors were so impressed with that honesty, they paid for his ice cream, and they became friends.
As a teenager, Quinto even showed up on KDKA being interview for a volunteer project he was a part of in 1992. That, if nothing else, is worth seeing the KDKA report.
So what are you waiting for, check out Zachary Quinto coming home to Pittsburgh.
